Rabbi Shaya Hauptman, M.Ed joined Torah Academy in 2010 as one of its beloved Judaic Studies teachers. He served simultaneously as Etz Chaim Synagogue’s Youth Rabbi where he transformed NCSY Jax into a four-time award program recognized by Southern NCSY for its leadership in programming and overall excellence. Prior to this, Rabbi Hauptman and his family lived in Olney, MD where he was enrolled in a Talmudic Fellowship at the Friedman Kollel of Greater Washington. He received his Rabbinic Ordination from Rabbi Malkiel Kotler, dean of the world-renowned rabbinic seminary, Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, New Jersey. He was also a computer sciences major at Touro College in New York and earned his teaching certificate from the Machon Aluf Binah Institute.Rabbi Hauptman completed his graduate’s degree with an MA in Educational Leadership from Bellevue University. In 2015, he joined the Torah Academy administration as its Head of School.
